When police in Kentucky investigated the slaying of a young attorney named Ryan Poston in October 2012, several things didn't add up from the get-go
Poston's girlfriend Shayna Hubers admitted to killing him but immediately claimed self-defense and insisted that Poston was abusive toward her and that she had no choice but to shoot him dead. However, not only did she shoot him six times, she was shockingly callous right in front of detectives during her interrogation. First she joked about how she had given Poston "the nose job he always wanted" by shooting him in the face, then she lamented the fact that no one would want to marry a murderer.
And things only got stranger from there. When police left Hubers alone in the interrogation room, they watched in disbelief as she suddenly started singing "Amazing Grace" and dancing around the room. She then talked out loud to herself about how she had killed Poston but how she was "so good at acting" that she would get away with it. In jail before trial, Hubers likewise bragged to her cellmate that she had an Einstein-level IQ and would use it to successfully play the "battered spouse" on the stand — but her ploy failed miserably and the jury convicted her with hardly any deliberation at all.
