What I am about to say has not been confirmed as fact - but it has not been disproven either.
The incident is also often called the "20-year shot".
It occurred around 1893 in Texas .
A man named Henry Ziegland had dumped his girlfriend.
The girl's brother decided to confront Henry about it. Things escalated, and the brother shot him.
When Henry collapsed, apparently mortally wounded, the brother decided to take his own life.
However, Henry Ziegland survived with serious injuries, while the girl's brother died.
Ziegland was taken to a doctor, and his injuries were treated. Apparently, the bullet had only grazed his face.
The bullet that had grazed Henry's face was still lodged in the tree in front of which he had been standing.
It remained untouched for twenty years.
Twenty years later, Henry decided to remove the tree and placed dynamite around it to blow it up.
He had no idea that the explosion would release a bullet—the very one that had been lodged in the tree for twenty years.
Accelerated by the shockwave, it reached an extremely high speed and struck him.
He was killed instantly.
Henry Ziegland died because of a bullet that had been fired 20 years earlier - to kill him.
