On November 13, 1989, Westley Allan Dodd attended a showing of "Honey

I Shrunk the Kids" in Camas, Washington, but he wasn't there for the movie. He quickly spotted an unattended 6-year-old heading to the restroom after the light went down. Dodd threw the child over his shoulder and tried to walk out of the building.

The boy screamed so hard, he dropped him and ran to his car, which broke down just two blocks away. The boyfriend of the child's mother caught up with him and held him down until the police arrived.Not only had Dodd attempted to kid*nap the young boy in the theater, but he was also responsible for the recent r*ape and murder of three other young boys in the area. He said that over the past 15 years, he had molested at least 175 children. He had written about these crimes in a scary diary that had gruesome drawings and details about a deal he thought he had made with Satan.

At trial, even Dodd asked for his own execution, and in 1993, he became the first American to be hanged in nearly 30 years. His final words before execution were: "I was once asked by somebody… if there was any way s*ex offenders could be stopped. I said no. I was wrong.

She stayed with the regiment and worked as a nurse throughout the war. After the war, she moved north with the regiment and settled in Indiana, where she found work with some of the veterans of the 23rd. She applied for a pension after Congress passed the Army Nurses Pension Act of 1892 which allowed Civil War nurses to draw pensions for their service. The War Department had no record of her, so her pension was denied.  She was put on trial for killing her white employer, Earnest Knight, who she said tried to rape her. Lena claimed she killed him in self-defense, but an all-white, all-male jury convicted her, and she was sentenced to death. Her trial lasted only one day. Before she was executed, sitting in the electric chair, she said: “What I done, I did in self defense or I would’ve been killed myself. Where I was, I could not overcome it. I am ready to meet my God.” Lena was executed on March 5, 1945. She was the only woman ever executed in Georgia. She left behind three children. Her last words, along with her picture, are now displayed near the electric chair at a museum in Georgia State Prison in Reidsville.

 The German army entered the war in 1939 in high-quality uniforms of thick wool and with a dark-green collar. The leadership spent a lot to ensure that the soldiers appeared shiny and professional with a victory likely to come fast.It was different in 1941 when the invasion of Russia took place. The military was not well prepared to the extreme cold. Guy Sajer in his memoirs describes how the men were forced to wrap their feet in straw or steal clothes off the conquered men just to get by.
