The Miracle of Niagara Falls.
On July 9, 1960, a man took two children, a brother and sister, for a boat ride on the upper Niagara River.
The boat had engine trouble, capsized in the river, and all three fell into the water. The man went over the falls and died.
The 16-year-old girl, Deanne Woodward, was saved by two men who grabbed her just before she fell over the falls.
The brother, Roger, a 7-year-old boy wearing a life jacket, was carried by the fast river and fell about 175 feet, a drop that usually causes many deaths every year.
No one thought the boy could survive such a fall. But one of the tourist boats below the falls saw his life jacket and quickly pulled him onto the boat.
Roger was very shaken but was not hurt. The man who was driving the boat was found after four days of searching. Roger and his sister have visited the falls many times since, to remember that scary but lucky day.
