In 1974, Cass was overjoyed to be performing at the famous Palladium in London.


 After her second night there, she called me, crying tears of happiness. She told me that she had received standing ovations on both nights and had sold out both performances. She sounded more joyful than I had ever heard her before.


The next day, I was having lunch at Warner Brothers when a friend rushed in with heartbreaking news—Cass had passed away in her sleep from a heart attack. It was so shocking, especially because she had been so happy just hours earlier, feeling fulfilled and at the peak of her success.
