Frances Elizabeth Bavier was born December 14, 1902, working in theatre, film and tv from the 1950s until the 1970s.

“She was on The Andy Griffith Show from 1960-1968 when the show ended and migrated to the spinoff “Mayberry RFD” 1968-1971.”

But both she and Mr. Griffith did not get along, frequently clashing on the set during filming. She did not like him! She had a fiery temper!

“When she was diagnosed with multiple ailments, including congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and breast cancer, she realized the end was near and reached out to Mr. Griffith before her death, and they reconciled.”

She called him four months before she passed away to express her regrets to apologize about not getting along better and to say goodbye.

At 86 she passed away on December 6, 1989, from cancer and heart disease.
