This is my mom and aunt with their foster brother, Rory.

He was abandoned as a baby and came to live with my grandparents, Jesse and Joanne Moody, right after birth with no name. They named him Rory and cared for him as if he were their own child. My mom (Lori) and aunt (Judiann) adored baby Rory.

My grandparents later petitioned to adopt him, but just before his third or fourth birthday, the state took him and placed him with another family. At that time, adopting a foster child meant your home would be closed to future foster placements, and the state didn’t want to lose a foster family. The loss devastated them, and they stopped fostering children altogether.

My mom has always wondered what happened to her “little brother.” Rory was likely born around 1960, with a birthday of April 3rd, though the year is uncertain. He was born somewhere in Southern California, though the exact location is unknown. We would love to reconnect with Rory and hope that he grew up in a loving home and had a good life.
