Sara Cohen was born on May 13, 1943


 Sara Cohen was born on May 13, 1943, weighing six pounds and four ounces (2.8 kilograms). She was the daughter of Carolina and Joseph Cohen. A Jewish child, she was born in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Sara never met her father. He had been deported to a concentration camp a month before her birth. Her mother was left to care for Sara and her two older children, who were just two and three years old. The family lived at J. C. Kapteynlaan 7 b in Groningen.

On February 8, 1944, Sara, her mother, and her siblings were deported to Westerbork. From there, they were sent to Auschwitz, where all three were killed in the gas chambers. Sara was only eight months old when her life was taken.
