Which U.S. soldier holds the record for the most medals awarded to a Native American, and how many wars did he fight in?

You must have heard about Pascal Poolaw Sr., one of the greatest soldiers ever to fight in the U.S. Army. He was a Kiowa- an Oklahoma Native American.

He is the most decorated Native American soldier in the history of the United States. He was awarded 42 times in total, four silver stars of extraordinary bravery and three Purple Hearts after being wounded numerous times. The three significant wars that Poolaw fought are World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was initially in the WWII with his father and two brothers. He was once more wounded in the Korean War and won several highest awards due to his fearless leadership.

His most remarkable part of life followed the retirement. As his sons had been deployed in Vietnam, one of them was critically injured. Poolaw returned to the Army at the age of 45 to defend his youngest son and gave up his rank as an officer to become a front-line sergeant in the Army.

He was killed in Vietnam in 1967. He also continued to move despite sustaining injuries in an attack, and finally died trying to drag a fellow soldier to a safe place. The last Silver Star and third Purple Heart he was awarded was his final act of courage.

Pascal Poolaw Sr. was a real hero and he sacrificed everything to become a hero to his nation and family.
