Remembering 2nd Lt Rebecca L. George (Coatesville, Pennsylvania), an exceptional woman who sacrificed her own life for others.

 In 1942, after graduating from the School of Nursing of the Lancaster General Hospital, Rebecca joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and served with the 24th Station Hospital. Stationed in India and the Middle East, she worked day and night to heal the wounds of war and save as many soldiers as possible. On December 29, 1944, Rebecca was on her way home (to spend a few days with her loved ones) when her aircraft crashed in Central Africa, killing her instantly. Following the war, this devoted nurse was buried at the Florence American Cemetery in Italy. Rest in peace Rebecca. You will remain in our hearts and minds forever... Continue reading
