This is a tragic tale

This is a tragic tale of a young woman Krystyna Trzesniewska aged 10, who was a Polish girl. She was part of the numerous number of children who were victims during World War II. Krystyna was born on the 8 th of December, 1929 in a region of Poland names Zamość. She lived a normal life until the German army began to evict the Polish families out of their houses.

Due to this fact Krystyna and her father, Julian, were removed. Five days after her 13th anniversary on December 13, 1942 they were deported to Auschwitz concentration camp. As she left, they took her hostage. They assigned her a number 27129 and photographed her. In her eyes she could be seen as frightened and sad in that photo. She was a child that was not supposed to be out of home.

In Auschwitz life was extremely difficult. Reality was cold and hungry and sick. A little girl like Krystyna hardly could survive. It was here she passed away on May 18, 1943 and was still just thirteen years old. Even her father was killed in the camp.

The photo of Krystyna has become a very sad reminder of all those many children whose life was stolen by the Nazis. It presents the bitter yet true nakedness of the Holocaust.
